Alan Wake is a videogame being developed by the Finnish company Remedy Entertainment, the company behind the Max Payne games. People who are anticipating the arrival of this psychological action thriller will finally see Allan wake on sale although the final date of release is to be announced this year. The game was originally announced to be released on 2008 but the hopeful video fanatics only get a glimpse through the cinematic trailer shown in the Max Payne convention on October 15, 2008. Many people fear that because of its constant rescheduling the game would eventually be tagged as a vaporware. The game’s publisher is Microsoft Game Studios. It is currently under development aiming to be released for Xbox 360 and Windows Vista.

Story
The story revolves around the main character, Alan Wake, a writer of bestselling horror books. He has a fiancée, Alice whose appearance in his life coincides with his having strange dreams. His dreams were written to become a bestselling book and his dreams came true. His fiancée however vanished without leaving a clue. This event so devastated Allan Payne who lost his dreams and ability to sleep. He regained his dreams after some treatment but the dreams turned into nightmares. His town then transformed to something close to his nightmares which makes him run fighting for his life.
Gameplay
Alan Wake’s enemies in the game are vulnerable to light. This means that the most effective weapon in the game is the flashlight which the player can wet as traps to weaken the enemies. The environment is said to be that of a three dimensional free-roam city. This will give players freedom to choose the course of their game but there are still goals to accomplish which gives the game a sense of direction. What fanatics are looking forward for when Allan wake sale starts are the cinematic action scenes that are present in thrillers like this.
The game will not feature any multiplayer functions. The developer said they would rather have an outstanding single player game than a flawed combination of single and multiplayer functions.
Date of release
The game has been earnestly awaited since it was announced in 2007. The game got more favorable comments and greater attention when the cinematic trailer was shown in 2008. The announcement of it final date of release is yet to happen this 2009. Are we anticipating a game that will ever come to us at least next year, 2010? The question remains while the announcement is on its way but many people fear that they might never see Allan wake for sale in the near future.
Remedy’s CEO promises that the team of developers is busy developing a kick-ass game that is worth waiting for. The CEO also warned the public from people who would say that the game would be release at a certain date. The announcement of release will come from their website first and foremost, so any claims of date of release that is not the official statement from the website are just hearsays.
