There are two campaigns: the Japanese and the American campaign. You can repeat history or change it as both campaigns bring back the history when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941 and the Battle of Okinawa in 1945. The Japanese campaign has its focus more on the Pearl Harbor attack and the invasion of America while the American campaign has its focus on the Battle of Okinawa.
In order to win each mission, impressive tactics is required. You must always be one step ahead of the enemy. Have a perfect strategy and get to know your enemies more, winning the war will be easy for you. The islands in the Pacific Ocean come to life when you play the game. Each campaign shows a brief history of an island. Philippines, Borneo, Mariana and Palau Islands, and more are part of the Pacific War. Visit each island and kill your enemies. Feel like you are literally in command of your fleet as there are cockpit views. Make it more realistic as you may fight during day or night and whatever weather conditions possible. The combination of these makes the game more realistic.
You can also go online and challenge your friends. There are five multiplayer modes the game has to offer. There is the Island Capture mode where you lead your own fleet to fight through the defenses of the enemy with one goal in mind – to capture all the islands. Capturing an island will unlock certain units. The more islands you capture, the more powerful your fleet will be. You can also go in Duel mode where the winner is the last man standing. Ally with your friends and see who the best in Domination mode is. Be on the same team yet you battle to get the highest score by killing more enemies. Two teams battle each other in Siege mode where one team defends their island with all their life while the other team tries to capture the island in a specified time limit. Lastly, there is the Escort mode where a team protects a unit until it reaches its target. Battlestations: Pacific for sale internationally starting May 12, 2009.
