FUEL
Asobo Studios based in France are working on a game which they hope to mimic the success of Burnout Paradise, an open world racer or sandbox racer. The idea of this kind of game is intriguing, unique and the possibilities seem to be endless. However only a few games have shown real potential with this gaming genre and most of them have failed to deliver the expectations of gamers. Asobo Studios hopes to have better luck when FUEL on sale hits stores all over the world. They have intertwined variety of vehicles, amazing map designs and futuristic look with this game.
After you buy FUEL, you will be able to pilot several different vehicles available throughout the game, more than seventy as a FUEL review suggests. These vehicles range from dune buggies, sedans, motorcycles, monster trucks, quads, muscle cars and a whole lot more. The best thing about this variety is that each of them has particular strengths and weaknesses. For example, a motorcycle can climb up a hill faster than a sedan can while it can’t go through the same rugged terrain a monster truck can take on. Because of this, each car has a different GPS system that guides you to your goal.

Most races in FUEL are checkpoint style where you drive from one red column to the next until you are able to reach the finish. These checkpoints are given good distance from each other which allow players the freedom on which path to take towards the next checkpoint. The GPS system is a series of arrows would point to paths adept to your vehicle. So for racing cars, the GPS system would tell you to keep on the asphalt even if there is a shorter, albeit rugged path available.
Perhaps the most overwhelming feature that you will see when FUEL for sale hits stores is the mind numbing size of the maps. The first look Asobo Studios gave gamers shows a forty plus kilometre area where you can choose to drive around in free roaming mode or take on career mode. The setting is somewhat of a post apocalyptic view of the United States. You will be able to observe famous landmarks of the country while racing or simply driving around. It is a beautiful and artistic landscape which promises to be very exciting to race upon.
Now the question on gamers’ minds is this, why put the game in an open world concept when the races are usually limited to a course within the environment? Here is where the unique feature of FUEL comes in, the option to create your own races. Plus, these player created races can be shared online as well.
There has been no release date so far but from the looks of it, gamers wouldn’t mind buying the game instead of waiting for a used FUEL game for their system. This promising game will come out on multiple platforms such as the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. No word whether it will have a handheld brother yet.
