Halo 3: ODST
“Halo 3: ODST” is a standalone game expansion for Halo 3. Instead of playing the usual Master Chief role that has super human abilities, the player will be playing the vulnerable ordinary soldier of United Nations Space Command. ODST stands for Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. The key objective of ODST is to escort the soldier throughout the ruins of Mombasa to discover what went wrong to his lost teammates. When the ODST finds a piece of evidence left behind by a missing soldier, a flashback is prompted and the player takes up the role of the lost soldier. You will know more of this when Halo 3: ODST sale starts later this year.
Setting
ODST is set to take place in the year 2552 at the Halo universe. This corresponds to the events of Halo 2. During this time, the major characters of Halo 2 are on the ring world known as Delta Halo. The ODST is set at the city of New Mombasa, Kenya, where an invasion by the Covenant is taking place.

It was announced before that Halo 3 would be the last game in the trilogy. The Halo 3: ODST is not a contradiction to the statement because it is not part of the trilogy though the story is related and in fact connected to the Halo series. It is actually set in the time frame that coincide the last part of Halo 2 leading up to the events towards the start of Halo 3.
Characters:
The main character of the story is called the Rookie. He is in search of evidences in the city New Mombasa. The player will have to control the character in the manner and path to get to the evidences. This is a departure from the usual, and heavily criticized linear path of the Halo series. The evidences are called Beacons. These are object left by one of the Rookie’s four squad mates, that when found will enable the player to get to the scene that precedes the placement of the beacon in its location. The player has about thirty minutes to control the missing soldier’s role. Afterwards he will be brought back to the main plot holding a valuable piece of information. A player then will get to play five characters throughout the game. The main character, the Rookie, and his four quad mates, Romeo, Buck, Dutch, and Mickey
Because the payer will play an ordinary soldier, a Lance Corporal, which is a non-rate, enlisted man in the UNSC Marine Corps, his qualities will be that of an ordinary human. This will entail grater work but more excitement for the player. He will lose many of the abilities found in the main characters of the Halo trilogy. One such ability is the dual wielding ability. His shortcoming will be compensated by his Personal Virtual Assistant
