Chris Redfield is back and he is with one hot local chick. After 10 years of absence, the Resident Evil brings back its first lead man in its fifth offering. Resident Evil 5, scheduled to be released on the first quarter of 2009, promises another hard-hitting, action-packed, and liters of blood spilling shooting game for you to enjoy. It will have the same feel of the gameplay and control as the previous series at the same time showcases ground breaking developments.
The sequel to Leon S. Kennedy mission picks up from where they left off in Resident Evil 4. This time Chris is en route to Africa to investigate a spread of viral infection. No longer a part of his old team in STARS (Special Tactics and Rescue Service), he is now giving service to Bioterrorism Security Alliance or BSSA. And, every now and then, provides some information on the missing years of Chris life and the STARS.

The setting is Kijuju in Africa which hosts to an area surrounded by a thread of active volcanoes that comes from Eritrea all the way to Kenya. The threat of these volcanoes goes beyond the molten magma spilling over the land and earthquakes and after-shocks, the volcanic activities pose dangers to trigger the spread of dormant virus. And who said that only protagonists can make comebacks. The new series of Resident Evil also points the spotlight to the long-missed antagonist, the former commander of the STARS Albert Wesker and the virus implanted Sherry Birkin.
Aside from reappearances of old characters and retaining of old gameplay, Resident Evil 5 introduces new additions to the highly anticipated game. New character Sheva Alomar, an agent of the African network of BSAA, also embarked on the same predicament as Chris. She will be his back-up in virtually anything and everything. The addition of Sheva to the play brings the level of gaming to a higher level. She can be chosen as a secondary character in a co-op multiplayer mode or an impressive assistant as an AI.
To give you an idea of what she can do as a side-kick in solo game, she can quickly pick up loots (faster than an average player can), but you don’t need to worry because she can be generous if you ask her nicely. She can also assist you in battle, provide you health when you are down, take charge in action while you are recomposing yourself, she also gives you a dose of adrenaline for a small amount of health. And she comes loaded with talent in close combat and superior marksmanship skill.
But don’t think she has it all, once in a while you will see her asking for help so always keep you radar open. Though it can be played in co-op mode, you opt not to stick together with each other. It can be played in split screen as you deal with of your own businesses.
