The Godfather II is a video game that was inspired by the 1974 crime drama film “The Godfather Part II.” The film was written by Mario Puzo and was helmed by Francis Ford Coppola. The video game was published by Electronic Arts. It will be released on Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, and PS3. This game is also the sequel to its predecessor The Godfather: The Game which was released in 2006. It was also inspired by the original film that was directed by Coppolla and written by Puzo.
The development of The Godfather II started in early 2008. EA revealed that the game will be released in the US on February 24, 2009. Unfortunately, there is no version for the Wii. Gamers will have to wait for that.
The Godfather II takes place in 1950s and 1960s. It is set in 3 cities: Miami, New York, and Havana. Michael Corleone asked the character of the gamer to take over the family after Aldo Trapani’s death. Aldo Trapani was the protagonist in the first game. In the sequel, the player controls Dominic. He is more cold, violent, and arrogant when compared to Aldo. Aldo, on the other hand, had moral dilemmas when killing the main characters in the first game. The gamer has to lead the family and defeat the other families in order to take over the businesses and become the number one mobster all over America.

Although it is inspired by the movie, The Godfather II has a plot that is different from the film. Takethis for example, the flashbacks of the early life of Vito Corleone in Sicily is not included in the game. Stars of the movie will also lend their voices as well as their likeness in the film. Robert Duvall, like in the first game, returns in the sequel to be the voice of Tom Hagen. Al Pacino, however will not be the voice of Michael Coreleone. Coppola is also uninvolved with the development of the game.
The characters featured in the game are Dominic who is the main character and the one that will be controlled by the player, Michael Corleone, Tom Hagen who is the legal adviser of Corleone, Hyman Roth who is the longtime associate of Corleone,  Pat Geary who is the corrupt senator that has been involved I investigation of organized crime, Tony Rosato who is the elder of Rosato brothers, Frank Pentangeli who is the Corleone caporegime after he replaces Peter Clemenza, Tommy Cippola who is the henchman, and Henry Mitchell who is the primary contact of Dominic with the CIA.
Since The Godfather Part II game and movie both deal with the importance of family, the clans involved are given huge importance. There are two families in the game. The Corleone family, obviously, who moved to Las Vegas. Aldo Trapani is the proxy in New York. Dominic takes over after his death. This is where the game starts.  Then there are the Rosato Brothers. Anthony and Carmine Rosato check out the territory of the Corleones. They claim that Peter Clemenza promised this to them before he died. This is where the conflict of the game begins.
