Surreal Software, the brains behind the successful video games series The Suffering and Drakan, is set to release their latest offering this 2009, THIS IS VEGAS.  Together with publisher Midway Games, THIS IS VEGAS will be available in the market in XBOX, PS3 and PC versions.

The game is set, as the title implies, in the city of Las Vegas.  All the elements that one can find in Vegas have been incorporated into the game.  The developer of the game have described it as an action game for the mature playing crowd due to the plots and subplots that have been injected into the game’s storyline.  It combines the elements of character growth and empire building to produce realistic scenarios that one can only find in Vegas.  

The progression of the story as the game goes on is very simple to follow.  When an influential businessman starts to turn the city of Vegas into a family-friendly tourist destination, it will be the responsibility of the player to make sure that all his plans be thwarted.  The objective of the game is for the player to start his own powerful territorial domain to return Las Vegas back into its glory days.  The different ways of doing so includes: partying at the hippest clubs in town to know VIP’s that can help you along the way; increasing your bankroll by gambling more; racing the fastest cars to build reputation and lastly, fighting people left and right to attest to your growing strength.

What happens to the character of the player inside the virtual world of Vegas is totally up to the players’ decision making.  The places to go to and the things to do are dependent on how the player wants to play the game.

During the first part of the game; two important characters will be introduced to the player – Joey Nissan and Preston Boyer. The former is the local guy who influences the player to work the way up the Vegas crowd while the latter is the business tycoon determined to transform the busy strip of Vegas into a tourist destination for the whole family.  No matter how noble Boyer’s intentions are, the player will do everything to make sure that he fails.  After all, THIS IS VEGAS.

The story of the game and everything else around it revolves on four so-called pillars: fighting, racing, gambling and partying.  All four elements contribute to the development of the game and growth of the player’s virtual self.

THIS IS VEGAS guarantees a close to reality, authentic virtual representation of Las Vegas.  The player will be able to visit the famous strip of casinos and engage in various activities that only Vegas can offer.  Inside the game, the player will encounter four kinds of groups that the player has to interact with to be able to accomplish certain goals and missions of the game.  The four types of crowd are simply called diamonds, hearts, clubs and spades.  Each crowd having its own identity and personality that the player needs to learn to adjust to improve reputation and gain their confidence.  If the player plays his cards right, certain rewards will be unlocked that the player can use to achieve his main goal.  Catch THIS IS VEGAS on sale this 2009!
