Tomb Raider: Underworld
The most well – loved of all video game heroines is back with a new mission on the Xbox 360. This time she is out to prove the existence of the fearsome weapon of the Thor, the much celebrated god of thunder in Norse mythology. This weapon is said to be only a myth for many generations until our hero uncovers evidence that it is indeed true and larger – than life. This leads to a journey like no other as Lara attempts to learn the truth behind the secrets of the myths while travelling in different exotic locations and encountering different kinds of foes and friends and alike.
This sequel offers more perks and enjoyable additions from Tomb Raider: Legend which was released last 2006. Here, Crystal Dynamics has really done a good job of creating a more visually enticing world that is so vivid that it feels so real and life-like. Each location offers exciting details as well as graphic outputs. Any gamer would feel that they are actually present in the game especially with the very colorful landscape which is depicted right down to the tiniest drops of water and the vaguest shadows and lights. Also, Lara has evolved to the point where she is more real as compared to the 3d doll that she had become in some of the early versions of the game.

This time, the addition of advanced lighting techniques and a kind of spherical harmonics made our Tomb Raider more pleasing and appealing to look at. Also, Lara also has the tendency to be dirty or clean especially if she’s wallowing in mud or walking under the rain which is unlike in other games where the appearance of the character doesn’t change with whatever situation that it goes into.
Gamers who buy even a cheap Tomb Raider: Underworld version could certainly experience a more improve style and gameplay from the original version. Here Lara is certainly capable of doing more things especially in situations where extreme puzzle – solving is needed. She can practically reach any crevice or climb any wall or tree with her new bag of neat tricks that involve climbing atop pillars as well as thin bars and rods and squeezing her way in the corners of ledges. This involves a good sense of balance for the gamer as no balancing meter appears and it can only be judged by the way it appears on the screen. Add the new ability to shoot while hanging and you get a very formidable heroine indeed. Also, the environment became more interactive as some objects that are needed in opening gates and locks are usually found only nearby. Aside from that, these objects can also be used for fighting making it not a problem when it comes to having a weapon on hand.
Anyone who is fond of exploration and puzzle solving games is certainly advised to buy Tom Raider: Underworld. Since it’s not yet released it’s certainly good to reserve a copy to be able to assure of getting the first ones the moment that there is an available Tomb Raider: Underworld for sale. This is highly recommended especially for those who have not experienced the magic that Tomb Raider has brought in all these years.
